Dear Peter,It has been a real pleasure to meet you and to be introduced to Bloodbikes Australia. I commend you for bringing such worthy initiative to Australia. Since our initial contact, we have now collaborated with many of the Bloodbikes volunteers on several occasions. Their highly professional support in transporting ex-vivo surgical samples for the Institute for Glycomics Melanoma CellBank is instrumental to the success of the CellBank initiative.
We look forward to continuing and expanding our collaboration with Bloodbikes Australia.
Kind regards

Mater Pathology

Dear Peter,I wanted to thank you for establishing Blood Bikers Australia. It has been a wonderful service for Mater Pathology and Mater Hospitals.
The ability to utilise the service when other routine services are over stretched and/or are unable to respond to urgent calls makes our job so much easier. The ability to get urgent blood to our satellite sites of Mater Private Hospitals at Redlands and Springfield for our cancer patients means that transfusions are not delayed or postponed.
During the past few months there has been even further activities that your service can offer with assistance in COVID collections and delivery of breast milk, medicines and other medical products. If there are any ways we can help support the expansion of this service please don't hesitate to contact me.
A special thank you to you and your volunteers for the generous and valuable work you are performing Mater Pathology a n d Mater Hospitals thank you.
Your sincerely
Deb Hornsby

I am writing from PA haematology lab where we recently had Cellavision, a digital morphology analyser, installed for blood film review. Roche advised our XN3000 analyser would need up to a four hour downtime to prepare the system for the new module. This would be a very significant event for our lab so plans were made to send our FBC samples to QCH. For this we arranged Bloodbikes Australia to act as couriers every half hour.
You may have heard of them, they are a wonderful group of volunteer motorcycle enthusiasts who courier blood and blood products, as well as patient medications, throughout their network. They have riders Australia wide and feel their services are underutilised, particularly in regional areas. The PA use them for a weekly blood delivery to a new satellite hospital.

Lions Eye Donation service
2nd August 2022
Dear Peter,I wished to personally thank you and the Blood Bikers team of volunteers for the fabulous service you have foundered, and for the assistance they provide our team at the Lions Eye Donation Service.
Our wonderful donor coordinators, of which there are only three in Victoria, had been delivering ocular tissue ready for surgical transplant throughout regional Victoria and metropolitan Melbourne. Using precious time and resources acting as couriers, instead of using their most valuable skills as qualified eyebankers.
Partnering with your team of volunteers has freed up their time, and our resources, so that the coordinators are more available to talk with families, recover donated tissue, and use their technical skills in the laboratory. Essentially allowing the service to recover more tissue from more kind donor families, and therefore, more recipients of ocular tissue.
Your team of volunteers are always on time, friendly, polite, easily identifiable in their fluoro colours and competent. The ocular tissue has always arrived as instructed, with a photo sent of confirmation of delivery.
We could not be happier or more delighted to welcome Blood Bikers to the team that saves sight!
I would happily recommend your organisation to any health service considering partnering with Blood Bikes.
We look forward to a long association with Blood Bikes Australia.
Yours sincerely,
Bronwyn Cohen

Mum developed a health issue requiring infusions on a regular basis.Mum (disabled) and Dad are in their 80s. Dad is Mum's full time Carer trying his best to cope with day to day support and taking Mum to constant medical appointments.
Collecting bloods required a 50 minute one-way drive to the hospital and Dad could only do this when we had someone to sit with Mum.
BloodBikes were recommended to us just at a time when supporting Mum was becoming very challenging for my Dad and our family.
When Mum needs blood, we email/call the team and they take care of the rest - from liaising with the hospital staff on pick up time and delivery of bloods safely to our home.
The team are absolute angels and we are so grateful we found them.
The team are kind, caring, efficient and nothing is too much trouble.
They are simply happy to be of help to the community.Time being our most precious commodity, Dad is now able to spend more time caring for Mum, whilst BloodBikes take care of the collection.
Lastly, this service is absolutely free.
Regards,
Angie

With my working hours I am unable to get time away from work to pick up my Immunoglobulin supplies and at first I was worried that I might have to stop this medication. That was until the hospital told me about the services of BloodBikes Australia.
BloodBikes were able to pick up my supplies and deliver them to me in the city which was a great relief.
There communication is brilliant, and you get a phone call upon leaving the hospital and upon arrival.
Thank you BloodBikes for this wonderful service.
Kind Regards,
Scott
